Objections and replies

The strongest attacks on this way of knowing, each in its sharpest form.

“A book that only prints the attacks it can beat is a book that has not been attacked.”

The Interior, Chapter 28, How to Destroy This Argument

This room does the same. Each objection is put as hard as it can be put. Each reply comes from the work. Each says what would make the reply fail.

“One record exists” is only Descartes again.

The objection. Doubt everything, and find the one thing you cannot doubt. That was done in the seventeenth century. Nothing new is here.

The reply. The start is old. Where it goes is not. Descartes found the trap: a statement whose denial proves it. So did Anselm. Both stopped. “Descartes stopped at “I exist.” Anselm stopped at “God exists.” Neither asked: what does the trap force?” This work asks. From one record come four conditions, from the four the physics, and from the physics the ethic. “The logical trap does not stop at the premise.”

Where the reply would fail. If the chain from the one record to the four conditions breaks, the reply is only Descartes again. That chain has its own kill switches on the420code.org.

From Rosin Ø Prose, The Trap.

Architecture B is just another authority, dressed in mathematics.

The objection. You have replaced one authority with another and called it physics.

The reply. The Interior puts this charge against itself, in its own words: “You have replaced human authority with geometric authority and called it physics.” “It is a fair charge. It deserves a structural answer, not a political one.” The answer: an authority declares, and cannot be cut. Architecture B states, in advance, what would break it, and it can be broken by anyone who runs the test. An authority that publishes its own kill switches is not an authority in the old sense. It is a claim waiting to be tested.

Where the reply would fail. If Architecture B ever refused a test, or hid a failed one, it would be Architecture A. The kill switches, and the two predictions shown dead, are the check.

From The Interior, Chapter 20, Why This Is Not Authoritarianism.

If everything is perspective, nobody can say anything is true.

The objection. You start from “everyone stands somewhere”. Then every view is as good as every other.

The reply. Every reading is from somewhere. That does not make the record many. “Neither of you is wrong. The order of the record is one and absolute. No one reads it from outside.” Views differ. What every reader reads the same is the test. That is why the 8 is settled from above, and why no view decides it by insisting.

Where the reply would fail. If two honest readers, running the same test, read different results that no difference in where they stood can explain.

From AP52 Reading Relativity, 8 In Plain Words.

Deduction only moves truth along. Your four conditions are assumed.

The objection. A deduction is only as good as its starting point. You assume symmetry, break, record and constraint, and then admire what follows.

The reply. The four are not assumed. Notebook I, Chapter 3, The Proof, “proves the hypothesis from a single undeniable premise — at least one record exists — together with the completeness and minimality of {S, B, R, C}”. And the necessity that follows is honest about itself: “What deduction hands you is a particular kind of necessity. Not necessity from nowhere. Conditional.” “The condition is the kill switch.”

Where the reply would fail. If a fifth condition were needed, or one of the four could be dropped, the proof’s completeness or minimality fails, and with it the chain.

From Notebook I, The Premise; Three Ways of Being Sure.

A failed test can always be blamed on the test.

The objection. When a prediction fails, people blame the instrument, the data, the conditions. A theory can always be saved.

The reply. Only if what counts as failure is decided afterwards. Here it is written down before the result: every prediction names its kill condition in advance, and the frozen files are never edited. Two predictions have died that way. “Two of this book’s own predictions have since died on stated numbers. They are still in Chapter One. They are printed as corpses, with the date, the sigma, and what replaced them.”

Where the reply would fail. If a kill condition were ever moved after a result, or a corpse taken down.

From The Interior, its opening pages (What the fired switches did), and Chapter 1, Verify the Math.

Nobody can know what happens after death, so the floor proves nothing that matters.

The objection. The questions that matter most, like whether consciousness ends, are exactly the ones your method cannot touch.

The reply. The method can touch them. It can say what kind of claim they are. “So “consciousness ends” is a claim with no condition. It cannot be cut. It is a prophecy.” “Its opposite stands in the same place. “Consciousness continues” cannot be cut either. Neither is a truth. Both are prophecies.” The floor is different: “”One record exists” borrows nothing. No count. No story. No tomorrow to confirm it.”

Where the reply would fail. If someone names a test, possible in principle, that could settle either claim. Then it stops being a prophecy, and the page changes.

From Three Ways of Being Sure, The Floor.
